Handmade things last longer when they're treated kindly. Here's the per-piece routine I'd use myself. Looking for sizes? Size guide is here →
01
Clothing & rompers
Cool wash, gentle cycle, lay flat.
Quality cotton holds up beautifully — but it likes a bit of kindness. Treat your Little Stomp clothing like the heirloom pieces they're meant to be, and they'll easily get handed down to a younger sibling (or cousin, or charity-shop find).
Cool machine washGentle cycle, 30°C or below. Inside-out for prints to keep colours bright.
Lay flat to dryNo tumble dryer — heat is the enemy of cotton. A flat dry preserves the shape too.
Iron warm with steamIf you're an iron-the-toddler-clothes person, warm steam is fine. Skip the hot setting.
Spot-clean spills firstCool water and a dab of mild soap on stains before they set. Avoid bleach.
02
Bucket hats
Fully interfaced — built to bounce back.
Every Little Stomp bucket hat is fully interfaced inside, so they hold their shape through wash after wash. They're designed to live on heads, get squashed in nappy bags, and still look smart.
Cool machine washGentle cycle. Pop in a delicates bag if you've got one.
Reshape while dampPull the brim back into shape and stand on its crown to dry.
Air dry onlyOut of direct sun — keeps the colours from fading.
03
Crochet blankets
Hand wash, lay flat — these are the keepers.
Crochet blankets are made to be the one your little drags around for years. Treat them gently and they'll outlast the cot, the toddler bed, the big-kid bed.
Hand wash in cool waterUse a wool-friendly detergent. Soak, gentle squeeze, no twisting or wringing.
Lay flat to dryOn a clean towel, away from direct sun or heat. Reshape gently while damp.
Never tumble dryHeat will felt the fibres and you'll lose the lovely drape.
Store loosely foldedHanging stretches them out — fold flat or roll on a shelf.
04
Tea towels & bowl cosys
Daily-use stuff — wash hot if you really need to.
Tea towels and gift bags can take a regular wash routine — they're built for it. Bowl cosys and noodle cup cosys are insulated, so they're a different beast.
Tea towels & gift bagsGentle machine wash, cool to warm. Iron on low if you like a crisp finish. Cotton softens with every wash.
Bowl & noodle cosysSpot-clean only. The insulating layer doesn't love being submerged — wipe with a damp cloth and a touch of mild soap.
Hang to dryTea towels dry quickest hung over the oven rail. Bowl cosys flat on a tea towel.
Spilled something dramatic?
Beetroot, paint, the world's stickiest popsicle? Message me — I can usually help diagnose. Twenty-odd years at a sewing machine has produced some weirdly specific stain knowledge.
